Beauty is a big aspect of my life – I love everything about it. Ever since I was a little kid I was always fascinated by makeup and hair. Once I turned 12 I started really getting into makeup despite not being allowed to wear any, that year I travelled to Afghanistan where my aunt taught me how to thread and do makeup. That experience was the beginning of my passion to create something beautiful.

In high school I was on the fence about what I wanted to do for my future, I didn’t think I had a future in the make up industry. We had a co-op program in our school and I remember asking to be in the cosmetic section of a drug store, I did make up for people and assisted them with their cosmetic needs. I loved it, but I wanted more, I wanted to be able(?) to use my knowledge and apply it to my clients.

When co-op ended, I was heartbroken, I got a job with my mom as a pastry chef which I absolutely hated but had to do to make some money. I took a year off from going to college because my anxiety was torturing me – I had no idea what the best choice was. I worked there for a until I decided to go to college.

I chose to take business in college, I’m happy I took it, but it wasn’t for me. I would go to school wearing a new makeup style every day and constantly on the internet searching new for looks and inspiration to do. During my studies, I would do eyebrows and makeup for my friends and family. After completing my business degree I started the makeup and esthetics program at George Btown College.

When my makeup course started, I was nervous – I was worried I wouldn’t be good enough. I absolutely LOVED it, my professors and everyone was so great. I knew this was the best choice – going to school for my passion gave me a huge boost in confidence and made me feel good enough. I applied to a bunch of jobs while I was in school and I got a call back from one. The one job that changed my life.

My interviewer was asking me a series of questions then asked about my eyebrows, I told him I do them myself with threading and he explained that their specialty was brows and lashes. I was over the moon since I loved doing brows, I didn’t know too much about lashes at the time.

About LASHxz

After two months of being there I was eager to learn about lashes and didn’t want to wait till they trained me, I took a course and got certified in lashes through the lash artist certification program. At first if was horrifying and I hated. I was then trained there in lashes and started working on clients, I remember making excuses all the time as to why I could not do lashes that day.

One of my first lash clients expressed how much she loved my work and wanted to continue coming to me, it was after that day I felt so confident in my lashing. I prided myself in my work and following infection control and prevention as well.

Months later I had so many regular brow and lash clients for who admired my work. Years later I was one of the top stylists and my schedule was only regular clients who wanted to see me. I worked on celebrities, high profile clients, moms, teens and – just about everyone.

Thousands of lashes and brows appointments later – I’ve built countless great relationships with my clients and learned so much about myself and my profession – I have to share this experience with others as well.
